Elasticsearch is on a mission to make real-time data exploration easy and availably to anyone. To achieve that, we spend our days engineering the world’s most advanced open source search and analytics engine, which is rapidly becoming the most popular solution in this space. Users love it because it’s as powerful as it is easy to use, which is something we’re proud of.
Due to the rapid adoption of Elasticsearch by thousands of companies across the world, we’re growing fast and are expanding our team. More concretely, we’re actively looking for software developers that are passionate about Elasticsearch. Since Elasticsearch is used in many different technology stacks, we need various experts on various languages to help us ensure Elasticsearch fits in seamlessly, regardless of the technology stacks used.
Engineering a highly complex distributed system that is easy to operate via elegantly designed APIs is a non-trivial effort. It requires solid software development skills, and more importantly, a sharp mind and the ability to think like a user. We also care deeply about giving you full ownership of what you’re working on. We fundamentally believe great minds achieve greatness when they are set free and are surrounded and challenged by their peers, which is clearly visible in our organization. We effectively don’t have a hierarchy to speak of. We feel that anyone needs to be in the position to comment on absolutely anything, regardless of his or her role within the company.
You don’t need to be an expert on multiple programming languages, but it is vital you know one through and through. Plus, you obviously need to know Elasticsearch well. If you have experience with distributed systems, search technology, (real-time) analytics or machine learning that’s helpful, but not necessary. The thing we care about most, is that you’re passionate about Elasticsearch.
Depending on what you see yourself working on, we have open developer positions for core-Elasticsearch/Lucene (Java), different language clients, and visualization experts to innovate on how to expose large amounts of data in a digestible manner.
At Elasticsearch, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a vibrant young company next to some of the smartest and highly skilled technologists the industry has to offer. Our team is changing the way the world explores data, and could use your help to complete its mission!
Elasticsearch is a distributed organization, with two main hubs: one in The Netherlands and another one in the Bay Area in the US. That said, we also have colleagues in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Spain, the UK and Romania – to name but a few. We care deeply about the quality of the team, which is infinitely more important to us than where you’re based. Given that we’re all in constant communication with each other, it’s vital you’re comfortable communicating in English.
We pay our people very well – probably above the industry average. The main reason is because we’re after the best people out there, and good people have options when it comes to picking their next job. We don’t want you to join us because our salary and stock options packages are very attractive, but we do want you to feel very comfortable with what we put on the table, hence our competitive compensation packages.
If you interested in joining us, please drop us a line at jobs@elasticsearch.com explaining why you’re interested and how you feel you can contribute to Elasticsearch.
